Save Nico Roesler Police have arrested a man suspected of promoting prostitution in Santa Fe and believe he may be involved with human trafficking. Gerardo Sustaita, 43, of Santa Fe was arrested on charges of promoting prostitution and accepting the earnings of a prostitute after a police stakeout at Motel 6, Cerrillos Road. Sustaita was on probation from a charge earlier this year of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and was wearing GPS electronic monitoring equipment, Sgt.
Andrea Dobyns said. Officers were watching the motel because of suspicion of drug activity there, Dobyns said. The officers spotted two young males leaving a room with a woman, she said, adding that the trio left the motel in a black Mazda sedan.
A criminal complaint states that when the Mazda was pulled over on Cerrillos Road by Santa Fe police, Officer Carlos Sandoval identified a year-old man and a year-old boy in the front seats, and a blond woman, age 31, in the back seat.
Sustaita demands a portion of the money she has earned as a fee for finding her customers. Dobyns said police also were informed that a young girl was being offered for sex in the Motel 6 room. The officers then went back to Motel 6 and apprehended Sustaita. Dobyns said officers were not able to locate the young girl.
Dobyns said no one else was arrested because investigators are are continuing to question them. According to online court records, Sustaita was arrested in April on the criminal sexual penetration charge for allegedly having sex with a person younger than Before the April arrest, Sustaita was on probation for several residential burglary convictions stemming from August Dobyns said police are continuing to investigate the case and are trying to identify any possible teens involved with Sustaita.
