Four international visitors, all aged 30 and over, were picked up at Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba and Currimundi in a three-day taskforce called Operation Juliet Gloss. A year-old Asian woman, advertising to be a year-old, was one of two women charged with knowingly participating in an act of prostitution at a Mooloolaba residence on Thursday.
The other woman, also of Asian appearance, was aged A year-old woman from an Alexandra Headland address and a year-old woman located at a hotel in Currimundi were also charged with prostitution. Inquiries from the Alexandra Head land address led police to a Little Mountain address. A year-old man was charged with possession of drugs and a drug utensil.
Sunshine Coast police acting Inspector Troy Pukallus said police believed some of the four women were part of an organised interstate syndicate. Sex work conducted in a licensed brothel is also legal. The operation had been undertaken four times in the past 18 months on the Coast. Insp Pukallus said Operation Juliet Gloss was a taskforce aimed at ensuring legislation compliance.
